- Foremost,
keep God as the central focus of your wedding (as a witness and when
it comes to inviting people.... You'll see...)
- Have
a potluck instead of a banquet. It's more cost efficient, and people
get to try out tons of new stuff.
- Don't
buy your wedding dress. Rent it.
- Get
custom made wedding bands. Somehow getting something from Zales, Crescent,
etc. just does not quite say "you're unique to me." :)
- Don't
let the groom/grooomsmen get their suits from the same person who
will take your pictures or bake your cake. Tell them to suck it up
and go to Gingiss - they will save a whole lot of time, hassle, and
suit alteration problems if they do.
- Warn
your friends that you won't have time to socialize because you'll
have the "deer staring into headlights" look at the wedding.
- Write
your own vows to exchange...that always adds a personal touch.
- Slideshows,
videos, childhood pics are nice.
